At last Friday and the end of the week. I can pick up my car tomorrow. You will excuse my lack of hubris on this matter. I seem to be one step away from a major repair bill with this car. What is next?
I have eventually trained my local bus drivers to stop for me. It must be a European habit to actually stop at bus stops as the first driver to stop yesterday was of Polish origin. Good on 'em. IT is slightly eery though getting on the bus with them. I asked for a return ticket and the driver asked for his £2.60 with an accent that was very reminiscent of a Bella Lugosi in drag as Dracula. Which begged the question - why was i getting on Dracula's bus, in the dark.
My mind raced and i wondered if i was in fact climbing on to a bus full of vampires that roamed the night picking up innocent travellers who can't seem to attract the attention of normal buses.
IF they were vampires then they were very laid back as they didn't lay a finger on me.
Or did they?
My daughter and her team won a basketball tournament in Thursday an now we all have tickets to see the Durham Wildcats in action on Saturday night.
Tonight My Son announced that he had lost his PE kit on the way to school this morning. I was in a bad mood as i have just shelled out £700 to get the Renault back on the road and then he tells me he needs new gear. I vowed to retrace his steps that night and find the goddamn stuff so I didn't need to buy it all over again.
As a result I spent a (not totally unpleasant) half hour rambling along the Queen's highway, torch in hand, with the rain falling on my head. Upon my return my son quickly realised the the reason he didn't get to school with his kit was not because he mislaid it but because it had never left the house with him. It was still sitting under the dining room table when I released him from the friendly headlock with which I held him.
And so to the weekend. Normal activities will resume. Football on Sunday morning, as a spectator followed by - well we will deal with that one when we come to it.
