So.... another Christmas bites the dust! As Christmas day goes it was not one of the best but never the less well worth the wait.
I travelled down to my mother with my 2 kids on Christmas eve. We arrived early in the morning. Although we went straight to bed pretty much we had a late start in the morning.

I was roused by my hungry Daughter almost on the stroke of midday. Which surprised me, My mum is the early bird but had not appeared. I was just boiling the kettle to take a cuppa up to her (and may check for a pulse) When she came downstairs. It turns out my mum does not enjoy cooking Christmas dinner in any shape or form. So me and the kids set about doing as much as we could to help.

The turkey took a long time to cook, much longer than the label said. So much so that Christmas dinner started at nearly six o'clock. a record even for my mum. Still as i said at the beginning it was worth the wait. We pulled our crackers and read our terrible jokes. An old tradition but it does set the tone for the meal. Lightens the mood straight away!

I missed Dr Who. I had my Xmas TV plan all measured out. There was a show called the One Ronnie. It stared the remaing half of the duo called the two Ronnie's. Ronnie Barker having died Some years ago.

For those reading this who have not encountered the Two Ronnies they were the TV comedy staple of BBC Saturday nights, second only in popularity to the late great Morecambe and Wise. Well The remaining Ronnie (Corbett) had a show that included a lot of well known comedians of today. An enjoyable half hour that was not too taxing on the brain. Then followed the Dr Who Christmas special but it coincided with the arrival of dinner so I dared not deny my Mum's dinner.

It was consumed with gusto however and once i had washed up we eventually got round to the presents.

We later played Uno which was a more complicated game than I remember. We carried on doggedly into the night and settled for bed time

The final Christmas present was that England turned Australia over for very few runs and then knocked them off for a useful lead too. Only day one but the best start possible.
