Getting back to my post about teams sports and winning and stuff.

When i was coaching youngsters in the fine art of Cricket I was passed some inspirational type stuff. "What is a winner?" and the like. I appreciated the one about what makes a distinguishes a loser mind you. Unfortunately the whole list is lost in the dim recesses of my memory but the one point I do remember is that a Loser is someone who doesn't take responsibility for their failures. Blimey! I have spent my working life in the company of that sort of person.

It is so true though, that the bitterest and most miserable people I come up against always consider themselves hard done by "It's not my fault!" goes the cry.

Mind you the flip side of that is that in my miserable moments at work I don't usually feel any better when I remind my self that I chose this career and asked for this job. In fact that makes it worse. Still, Life is a beach and then you surf.

Anyways back to my main point.

As I re read all this motivational stuff it struck me that a lot of this stuff seemed to be about managing expectations.

It just isn't possible to win all the time. When those times come that you are on the losing side you do at least have a philosophy to deal with it.

Winning and losing are fickle beasts. There is a quote about that but I can't place it just yet
