Covid-19 retribution

Once we have emerged from this crisis there needs to be a root and branch assessment of the situation.

It would appear that the world will emerge from this event into the biggest and most damaging recession since the 1930's.

The international community should inspect all the events since November 2019 to establish how/if this crisis could have been avoided.

The trail starts in China.

Question 1 : Why did the virus originate here?

Question 2: Did the authorities in China try to hide it? There was at least a 3 week lag from first recognition to actually admitting it was a problem

The international community must not be bullied out of asking awkward questions. If this article is true and indicative of China's stance on the subject the worldwide community will probably find itself in this situation again at some point in the near future.

My concern with a truculent China is that they will not learn the lessons of this crisis, whatever the lessons are. Not to prejudge any outcome but a story has circulated that a group of doctors in Wuhan were disciplined when it was found they were publicising the early signs of the epidemic.

Is an antagonised China trying to save face? This matters because they are either burying their heads in the sand or disrespecting the world at large by trying to pretend they weren't responsible.

An inquiry needs to be held. Not to find blame. The cause needs to be discovered because this epidemic mus not be allowed to happen again. Certainly not if the causes are avoidable. Airline pilots have a no fault reporting process. The concept is that it is safer to allow a pilot to admit fault in a "public" manner because then incidents do not become buried and necessary preventative measures can be put inplace BEFORE lives are lost

The same could be done for the Corona-virus pandemic. It is far more important that we learn any lessons and take preventative measures than it is point fingers and apportion blame.

For its part China should, if it wants to be a part of the worldwide community, take responsibility for it's actions and those of it's population
