Not a long one tonight.
I am tired and I have to rise early on the morn to go and see my godson and his family.
The weather has been a major frustration factor this week. I have been staring out of my tiny window at work at the sunshine and all my clieents have been telling me how nicethe weather is. Then by home timne the storm clouds have gathered and it has hissed with rain
I managed two trips on my bike this week however. Tobnight was my first close call with nature however.
I haven't been out on my bike much this summer mostly through not actually owning one but also a combination of poor weather and procrastination. I am a far weather cyclist at the best of times. In fact I am a fair weather sportsman (and I use the term loosely) of any kind.
In past years i have come across all manner of creatures at some time or other. Otters and deer being my faveourites but also herons, hares, voles and tadpoles.
With August in full swing and autumn fast approaching (sorry to bring such a downer on you) the nights darken a bit earlier than a month ago and i set out quite late tonight so some of the forest animals were out an about.
As i passed a local farm store/coarse fishing complex and struck out into open country I starteled a hare in the adjacent field and it raced me to the next hedge line. They are big aren't they. At first site i am never quite sure what I am looking at. They run more akin to horses than rabbits and i have a few times mistaken them for more ferocious critters. Ther big ears are the give away by the way
I was pleased none the less. Little rendesvous with critters like that make life a little bit sweeter.
