JORVIK

Last Sunday I hopped in my car and drove to the historic city of York. It turned out not to be the visit I had hoped.

I have been there many times over the years and always found it a pleasant in interesting place. But last Sunday was my first solo visit.

It was not enjoyable. I did stop at Betty's

But only to stare in the window at all the lovely cakes.

I wondered around and took in the local sights but I was not a happy bunny. It then dawned on me that I hadn't ever been there without company. And the place was totally different as a result.

I have been divorced for some years now and thought I had chased away all the shadows from that period only to find one sneak up on me all innocent like.

I shall persevere or maybe find someone to go with next time....

Oh! and just in case you don't understand the title Jorvik is in fact the name the Vikings gave the city over 1000 years ago.
