Post Pandemic

I want you all to do something for me.

We all want a return to a normal life free from restrictions to our lives.

But what I want you all to do is to take a moment and think of all the things that you don't miss about your life pre the lock down.

What is it that you used to do that are you are rather pleased you don't have to do any more?

Is there anything that you think you will carry on doing when we have some sort of normality?

Personally I have discovered how to be more appreciative of what I have in my life right now.

I realised how much I spent my life wanting

the view from the park (pre lockdown)
I live under  flight path to the nearby airport. I walk our dogs around the park and I used to watch the planes come in. I would wonder where they had come from (I know now because I downloaded an app that tells me), I would wonder about the lives of the people on board. I would often wonder about what if I were onboard.

When lockdown occurred the planes stopped

Before you start, I was not glad that the planes stopped. A lot of livelyhoods stopped too. But when the flights halted I realised I how much longing I used to do.

I realised I had spent my life always wanting to be somewhere else. A different job, a different lifestyle.

Now these wishes are not necessarily a bad thing. Without some desire or ambition we will not develop as people. Craving change or alternatives is what helps the world move forward

But the trick is to appreciate what you actually have too. Love the people around you, your pets etc.

I do miss the aircraft because I love travel. I do not miss the feelings of "wanting" that I used to get. It just made me dissatisfied with everything I achieved. To be content is a wonderful feeling and there is no problem with wanting a bit more. The problem is when you fall into one camp or the other too much

So I appreciate the things around me more and what I have. Because I do have my health. I have the  love of my family. Every thing else is just gravy

So what is it that you don't miss about your life before lock down? what will you change as a result?
