Here we are a year on from the first lock down. We all hoped the first lock down would be the lock down to end lock downs. It might have been able to do that had we been able to stay in lock down, maybe not? whatever steps the Government took when they ended the lock down in June/ July 2020 probably led to the second wave and second lock down.
The "Test and Trace Program" has largely it would seem been a large waste of public money as a "for instance"
The only thing to have worked well is the development of and certification of various vaccines against Covid-19. The efficacy of which remains to be seen with the rise of new variants.
So a year on and we are still in a state of flux, life balanced on knife edge. Whilst some of this can be laid at the feet of our elected representatives, perhaps we should look to place blame at the feet of those that brought it here in the first place
And NO! I am not laying this at the feet of the Chinese. We will revisit that issue at a later date
See this article. I am laying the blame at the feet of the privelidged few. This website backs the research that I am referring to, probably.
I think the quote on the website attributed to Ken Loach is a little unfair. I suspect a significant proportion of these travellers do it for "Business" as opposed to purely holidaying.
It is these people though that brought Covid-19 to these shores.
This is not the first coronovirus outbreak. People may remember SARS and MERS. All types of coronovirus. It may be that Covid is just more infectious. However one marked difference from the SARs event was that China as a nation are much more mobile. It was not well contained initially and then our dear old privileged fliers did the rest. Via the ski resorts of Europe apparently,
My overall point is that we must take a look at our lives to understand why and when these viruses occur. What is it that we do that breeds these diseases and gives rise to them? Also we must assess our own lifestyles to prevent the world wide spread of these diseases. In two words - air travel.
With modern travel it is possible to travel to any point in the world from any point in the world within 48 hours
For the second time this century the poorest and most vulnerable within our societies are being sacrificed by the greed and entitlement of richest segment. We need to reverse this situation if we are not to fall into populist voters traps and maybe end up inside another Nazi Germany or communist Russia.
Democracy must step up to the prospect of challenging the dominance of moneterist economics across the globe
In other words - EAT THE RICH!
